  • Will my hair be pre-treated before the extension?
Your hair will be washed in order to eliminate silicone and all other substances. This will help guarantee the duration of the extensions.
  • How long do extensions last?
Quality extensions may last up to about 6 months. This depends on how fast your hair grows. If your hair grows quickly they may last less and vice versa. We recommend removal every 4 to 6 months, depending upon the type of application performed (i.e. lengthening, more volume), the state/condition of the natural hair, and their lifestyle.
  • What shampoo should I use?
You should use one of Great Lengths shampoos which have been specially developed for use with our extensions. Other shampoos may not maintain the quality of your extensions.
  • Can I oxygenate my hair?
We suggest you ask assistance at one of our partner salons. Great Lengths' hair may be lightened up to 9% H2O2: however, we do not recommend this to be done on tonalities from black to brown or from dark to blond.
  • I ordered too many strands. What do I do?
We suggest you to store them in a clean and dry place.
  • Can the strands be removed and can I remove them myself?
Removal of the Great Lengths strands is relatively easy. Your hairdresser will apply a special gel on the bonds removing them with a tool. What usually creates a challenge is matting. Matting is due to non-proper or careless maintenance. Never remove your hair extensions yourself. Always return to the salon to have your hair extensions professionally removed. Great Lengths extensionists have all been trained to remove the hair extensions using only Great Lengths removal solution.
  • Do I need to be careful while brushing my hair?
Yes. This is why Great Lengths has created a special brush.
  • Is special care necessary after having my extensions applied?
Extensions may be treated as regular hair but long hair always needs special attention. Great Lengths offers quality products and special brushes.
  • How many possible color variations exist?
Hundreds if not unlimited. Great Lengths offers a very wide range of colors and if this is not enough the strands may be colored singularly.
  • Can the hair be dangerous during pregnancy?
Our extensions are made with high quality Indian hair and its structure is very similar to European hair. Applying or removing extensions during pregnancy is not dangerous. You must however note that during pregnancy or while breast feeding hair loss tends to increase because of hormone variations. If this were to be the case then the extensions need to be removed as your natural hair would not stand the weight of the extensions.
  • Can extensions be styled as your own hair?
Yes! Because Great Lengths extensions are 100% human hair you may treat them in just the same way as your own hair. Everything is possible.
  • Should the extensions be straightened?
You can use a hair straightener but the bonds should never come in contact with the tool. In case of dry ends we suggest you use Great Lengths Hair fluid and Great Lengths hair care products that you will find available in all our partner salons.
  • How do I recognize quality extensions?
You will recognize quality extensions when they are not easily distinguishable from your own hair and when the bonding is very thin and almost invisible.
  • What are graded strands?
Graded strands are strands that start with a light color tonality and become darker. These strands mix well with your own hair and only experts will notice these strands. These strands are a perfect solution for who prefers not to treat their hair more than necessary.
  • Will the extensions adapt to my hair color?
Great Lengths has a large variety of base colors and it is quite impossible not to match a color to your hair. Coloring is also possible after the extensions have been applied.
  • Can I add some strands later?
You may always add strands afterwards.
  • How long must my hair be in order to lengthen it?
Minimum hair length for a successful application is 8-10 cm and for a full head application, 13-16 cm would be preferable.
  • Can I tie my hair while doing sports?
Great Lengths extensions are applied in the most natural way possible. If you know that you will tie your hair often after having your extensions applied, let your hairdresser know and the extensions will be applied so that they will remain invisible when you tie your hair.
  • If I go to the beach what do I have to do?
With Great Lengths extensions you may go in salt water. You should rinse your hair with clear water and dry them as soon as possible.
  • How should I care for my hair during shampooing?
Use little pressure while shampooing. Always brush the strands with a Great Lengths brush and without pulling. Start drying from the roots and then the bonds. Make sure the bonds fully dry.
  • Do you see the bonds?
The bonds are even flatter. The bonds are perceivable only when you pass your hands through your hair.
  • Hair extensions after an illness
We usually do not recommend extensions right after hair loss due to illnesses or hormonal causes. Your hair should be left the time to strengthen and then you may try applying a couple of strands to see how your hair reacts.
  • How long does the application take?
If the application is done with single strands it will take about three hours. Great Lengths also offers systems that take only about one hour.
  • Must I always wear the same hairstyle?
Great Lengths hair has a natural wavy effect and for most clients this is an advantage because they can be easily dried and styled. Any style, color or cut is possible.
  • Without extensions my hair is so thin.
We have noticed that some of our clients, once the extensions are removed, feel that their hair is thinner than usual but this is not true, it is only because they had gotten used to the volume and thickness they had with the extensions.
  • Solarium: is this a problem?
This should not be a problem. Cover your hair with a towel or use our Energy Conditioner.
  • Why do Great Lengths extensions colors last so long?
This is because of our osmosis process. We remove the hairs color pigment without destroying it and before recoloring. This makes the color last longer.
  • Can I run my fingers through my hair?
Yes, you should run your fingers through the bonds to keep them separated.
  • May I go swimming with extensions?
Of course you may! The bonds are made of keratin with a structure very similar to hair's structure and therefore it doesn't melt in water. It is very solid and extremely safe. You may have extensions applied even if you do water sports. You should wash your hair afterwards to remove chloride.
  • Apple vinegar makes hair shine: can I use it?
Great Lengths does not guarantee for these types of treatments. We have a wide range of products for hair care; seek advice in one of our partner Great Lengths salons.
  • Why are Great Lengths colors so intense?
Great Lengths' colors are intense due to our osmosis process which allows the hair to absorb more color pigments giving the hair a deep and intense look.
  • Which tonality is the lightest?
Color 59 is the lightest color and we also do not recommend perming this color.
  • May I apply extensions for the third time?
Yes you may because the application does not in any way cause risks. Great Lengths recommends that you return to your certified Great Lengths partner salon approximately two weeks after your application. This follow-up visit allows your hairdresser to inspect the application and ensure that your Great Lengths application result is performing as expected.
  • Can I perm my hair and can I use styling products?
You may perm your hair and use styling products. Great Lengths offers a wide array of products and these products assure beauty for your extensions. None of our products contain alcohol.
  • How are the strands attached to the natural hair?
Great Lengths patented protein polymer bond ensures a quick and simple application either with heat or ultrasound system. Bonds are made from synthetic keratin mimicking the molecular structure of natural keratin found in human hair and skin and maintaining a pH value of 5.5 to be compatible with your hair, scalp and skin.
  • Is it possible to have extensions with a natural wave?
All of our extensions have a natural wave however they may be styled as desired.
  • How many times should I have my extensions checked?
It is necessary to have your extensions checked at least once every month in order for the hair extensionist to cut the natural hairs that have fallen out but are entrapped between the scalp and the bonding avoiding them to tangle.
  • If I have very fine hair, will the extensions be seen easier?"
No, Great Lengths supplies thinner hair strands. Seek advice at one of our Great Lengths partners.
  • I’m losing too much hair.
It is normal to lose 10% of the strands while wearing extensions. If you are in doubt, your Great Lengths certified salon will help you.
